Those who want to make a donation can do so by transfer to the account number ES33 2103 0146 94 0030016666, indicating the concept «Colombia».
The note received by the Diócesis de Málaga links this campaign to the figure of san Pedro Claver, a Jesuit born in Verdú (Lérida) in 1580, known as the patron of Colombia. According to the text, Claver arrived at the port of Cartagena de Indias and witnessed the conditions in which enslaved people from Africa arrived. There he was ordained a priest and dedicated much of his life to caring for those who survived the crossings on the slave ships, offering them first aid upon arrival.
The text also includes words attributed to Juan Pablo II about the figure of the saint, in which it is highlighted that he denounced before those who held power that people subjected to slavery had the same dignity as they did.
