Carlos Álvarez and Sabina Puértolas open the Lyric Season at the Cervantes tomorrow
The Málaga baritone and the Zaragoza soprano will offer an opera and zarzuela recital on Thursday, September 10, opening the 38th Lyric Season of the Teatro Cervantes de Málaga.

The programme of the first part includes the overture and a duet from «Le nozze di Figaro» and a duet from «Don Giovanni», both by Mozart; a duet from «La fille du régiment» and the overture of «Don Pasquale», by Donizetti; a baritone aria from «Lakmé», by Delibes, and a soprano aria from «Roméo et Juliette». The second part opens with the prelude of «El tambor de granaderos», by Chapí, and continues with duets from «Luisa Fernanda» and «La del manojo de rosas», a romanza from «El barbero de Sevilla» and another from «La Parranda», as well as the prelude of «El bateo».
Tickets are still available for this concert, with prices from eighteen to fifty-four euros depending on the area.
What the rest of the season brings
The 38 Temporada Lírica, sponsored by the Fundación Unicaja and with the collaboration of the Fundación Sando and Idealista, continues on Sunday, 13 de septiembre with «Dido and Aeneas», by Henry Purcell, performed by the French company Ensemble Les Surprises, with an exclusively female vocal cast. Tickets for this production range from twenty-two to seventy-five euros.
On 27 de septiembre, the Malagueña soprano Berna Perles offers, together with pianist Rubén Fernández Aguirre, a recital dedicated to Manuel de Falla, on the one hundred fiftieth anniversary of his birth (from twelve to thirty-six euros). In December comes «Don Procopio», by Bizet, on the fourth and sixth, as part of the second edition of Ópera Estudio de Málaga (ÓEM), a training project driven by Carlos Álvarez and maestro Carlos Aragón; and the recital by Ainhoa Arteta together with pianist Javier Carmena, on 12 de diciembre (from twenty-eight to one hundred twenty euros and from fifteen to forty-five euros, respectively).
The presentation of tomorrow's concert was attended by the concejala de Cultura y Patrimonio Histórico, Mariana Pineda, and the director of the Teatro Cervantes and manager of Málaga Procultura, Juan Antonio Vigar, together with representatives of the Fundación Unicaja and the coordinador artístico of the Temporada.
